Authorities Must Lead by Example on Road Safety

Authorities Must Lead by Example on Road Safety

It is surprising and disappointing to discover that some official vehicles on our roads are not equipped with essential safety tools such as fire extinguishers. These are the same items for which motorists are often penalized during routine checks.

A recent incident, where an official vehicle caught fire, exposed this contradiction. In that moment, it was responsible citizens who stepped forward with their own fire extinguishers to control the situation and prevent further damage.

This situation highlights the importance of leading by example. If road users are required to follow safety regulations, then authorities must also comply with the standards they enforce.

It’s surprising that some official vehicles on our roads still lack basic safety tools like fire extinguishers — we clearly have a long way to go as a country. 🚗🔥🇳🇬 #SafetyFirst #Nigeria #RoadSafety #PublicSafety
